Keen Independent conducts financial planning and other costumer research. David Keen has helped a wide range of clients in the financial services industry as well as those serving the industry.
Financial planning. Looking for ways to improve membership and strengthen market position, the Certified Financial Planners Board retained Mr. Keen’s team to evaluate CFP’s service mark positioning in the financial planning industry. Included in this research was an assessment of how consumers obtain information on financial services. He also conducted quantitative and qualitative research with individuals and companies providing financial planning services throughout the country, examined current market share for the CFP designation and projected future challenges in serving certified financial planners. Mr. Keen recommended strategies to recruit more individuals and firms to pursue CFP certification. His work helped the CFP strengthen its brand within a rapidly changing marketplace environment.
Securities sales. Mr. Keen also examined the security sales industry for the College for Financial Planning. He explored opportunities to provide different training services to stockbrokers, and recommended against pursuit of this market.
Credit reporting. Mr. Keen worked with the Associated Credit Bureaus to understand the best means of communicating with credit report customers.
Other experience. David Keen’s experience with financial services began when there were still unit banking laws in states such as Colorado. His earliest work was to assess the market for new banks. He also helped banks mine customer data to determine the profitability of individual customer relationships.
